3.20.23

My Dad always tells me when I’m having a hard day to not worry and that the sun will still rise tomorrow. Sure enough the sun rose this morning and it deemed to be a better day!! Update below and some cute pics because Gabby sure makes hospital life look cute! Thank you, thank you for all the continued prayers our tiny victories today did not go unnoticed

-Gabby’s chest X-ray came back clear (no fluid in lungs!) -Speech Team came to evaluate her breastfeeding (we were told yesterday she wasn’t allowed to oral feed until her swallow study) -Gabby had her longest breast feeding session yet (meaning she didn’t zonk out after 10 mins) and her oxygen didn’t dip during the feed. -She gulped a 15 ML bottle down in a few minutes -Snuggled Mom and Aunt Abbie all day

Even though her oxygen fluctuated all day the nurses reassured me this is very common in heart babies. I think it’s just hard every time I have to see her get hooked up to more things, it can feel depleting, but today we didn’t let that outshine her wins. She was on and off of it, but it was a good sign it didn’t dip when she was orally feeding. Her heart rate came back down to the 160’s sometimes 150s (when the doctors can’t explain why, we know why.) The Swallow Study team won’t be able to evaluate her until Wednesday. After that we are hoping to have a clearer feeding plan implemented with hopes that oral feeds are safe for her to progress!

Hi, thanks for stopping by!

Hey thanks for stopping by! My name is Kayleen, I am fairly new to the heart mom community.  We found out at our 20 week anatomy scan that our baby girl has a severe Congenital Heart Disease called HLHS in October of 2022.
